Existing tools stop at a basic printout. ChatExhibit adds what actually gets challenged: per-message identification, gap disclosure, jurisdiction formatting, and the declaration.
- Sender, date, time, and timezone on every message. Not just at the top of the thread — on every single line, the way practitioners recommend.
- Complete-thread and gap disclosure. The cover page states whether the exhibit is the complete thread or a dated excerpt, and any break in the sequence is marked in the body: “[Gap: no messages between X and Y].” Unsent messages are shown honestly, never silently dropped.
- A declaration template you can sign under penalty of perjury. Pre-filled with the recitals courts look for (federal 28 U.S.C. §1746 wording, with state variants), ready for your signature.
- Jurisdiction formatting. Letter size, one-inch margins, exhibit labeling matched to your role (petitioner numbers / respondent letters, editable), and text-searchable PDF/A output for e-filing systems.
- Optional Bates numbering for attorney and paralegal workflows.
- SHA-256 hash manifest of your source files, printed in the PDF, so you can later show the export files are the same ones the exhibit was generated from.
Nothing is uploaded. We never see a single word.
These are some of the most private messages of your life, possibly involving someone you need protection from. So ChatExhibit is built the only acceptable way: it is a desktop app that runs entirely on your own computer. Your export ZIP, your messages, your media — none of it is sent to us or to anyone else. There is no cloud processing and no account that stores your conversations.

Screenshotting three years of messages takes days, arrives out of order, and shows no sender identity or full timestamp on each message — the exact points opposing counsel attacks. A typeset exhibit generated from your official export shows the whole pattern: every message, in order, identified, dated, and searchable, with anything missing disclosed rather than hidden.

- Whether evidence is accepted is always the court’s decision. It depends on authentication, local rules, and the judge — things no software controls. Anyone who promises otherwise is overclaiming.
- We don’t give legal advice. ChatExhibit formats your own export, honestly and clearly. Questions about strategy or filing belong with your attorney.
- We can’t recover what isn’t in your export. Where messages were unsent or the export has gaps, the exhibit says so — because that honesty is what protects you.

ChatExhibit reads Instagram’s official data export today. Messenger conversations come out of the same Meta export, so support for them is on the roadmap — but it isn’t built, and we won’t put a date on it we can’t keep. If your matter involves Messenger threads rather than Instagram DMs, leave your email and we’ll write once, when there’s something real to report.
